Top 10 Wish List
(1:64 scale)
1.
Mad Max Interceptor

It's shocking this car hasn't been made in 1:64 scale yet!!!
There have been rumors, but nothing has materialized. A great movie with a huge cult following.
Auto Art released a stunning version in 1:18 scale. Maybe with a
new Mad Max movie on the horizon, we may yet see this in 1:64 scale.
2.
Greased Lightning

RC2 released the red version in 1:18 scale. Motor Max
released BOTH cars in 1:43 scale. Matchbox failed miserably trying to
bring us a 1:64 scale version of the white car. It's time someone give
us decent versions of these cars in 1:64 scale because it would be
AUTOMATIC, SYSTEMATIC... HYYYYDROMATIC... Why it's GREASED LIGHTNING!
3.
Beverly Hillbillies

I was hoping this truck would have been included
in a past Hollywood on Wheels series, but it never happened. Will someone please pick up this license and give us the
Beverly Hillbillies jalopy?
4.
Christine

Johnny Lightning attempted to bring us
Christine in 1:64 scale (see Top 10 Worst list). RC2 produced a spectacular 1:18
version of this baby so I was STUNNED when Christine wasn't included
in a Hollywood on Wheels series. Rumor has it Green Light is working
on entertainment licenses, maybe a 1:64 version is in the works. In the meantime, ERTL's red
Plymouth
Belvedere in its American Muscle/Early Muscle boxed set can fill that gap in
your collection.
5.
Rockford Files Firebird Esprit

It seems like this would be an easy one to make. Maybe
Green Light will produce this beautiful Firebird. Paint it bronze, give it a
license plate number of 853-OKG and let me add it to my collection!
6.
National Lampoon's Vacation - Truckster

This would be another great car to add to your movie
collection. It would need an entirely new casting though. Who
wouldn't want to see this hanging on the pegs? Years ago RC2 announced plans
to release
this car in 1:18 scale, but it got canceled, so don't expect a 1:64 scale version
any time soon.
7.
Cannonball Run Ambulance

Since Cannonball Run is one of my
all-time favorite movies, I would really like to see the ambulance done
correctly. ERTL did an awful job of doing the vehicles in the
80's. I would love to see them redeem themselves by making the
ambulance, the Lamborghini, the Ferrari, the Hawaiian Tropic, the Rolls
Royce and Jackie Chan's car as part of its Racing Champions line.
Johnny Lightning has the correct casting. I would love to see JL get
back to producing TV and movie cars.
8.
Brady Bunch Station Wagon

One of the most beloved TV series in history, The Brady
Bunch, has never really gotten the right die-cast treatment. Yeah,
Johnny Lightning produced Mike Brady's Cuda Convertible, but everyone
remembers the station wagon from the TV show, most notably used during the
family's trip to the Grand Canyon. The family drove a 1971 Plymouth
Satellite wagon, NOT a Ford Taurus as depicted by Matchbox in their Star
Cars line.
9.
Bonnie & Clyde '34 Ford
'
I'd love to be able to add this car to my collection.
Imagine the variations ... with and without BULLET HOLES! This could
be released as a movie car AND a historic car.
10.
Sanford & Son Pick-Up Truck

Two different style of trucks were used in the series.
The first, and most famous, was a faded red '52 Ford Pickup. The second was
a '47 Mercury M-47 Pickup (above.) I'd take either version if a
die-cast company picked up the Sandford & Son license.
People's Choice
The next ten were voted upon by visitors to this
website.
11.
Ghostbusters - Ecto-1

Mattel FINALLY produced Ecto-1 in 1:64 scale. We'll
soon be offering a new poll to let voters decided which car should replace
this car on the Wish List!
12.
Wayne's World - AMC Pacer

This one ranked a little higher than I predicted, but would
make an EXCELLENT addition to any movie-car collection. RC2 has the
casting. I really expected this one in a Hollywood on Wheels series, but it
never happened.
13.
The Wraith - Dodge Turbo Interceptor

Despite being fairly obscure, voters demand that we see this
car in die-cast form. It really is a beautiful car, created by
Chrysler and PPG as a Pace Car in 1984. Unfortunately, a new casting
would need to be created which, when combined with the movie's obscurity,
makes this an unlikely candidate.
14.
The Car - Modified Lincoln Mark III

RC2 has already given us a die-cast version in 1:18 scale.
It's an awesome and sinister looking creation by George Barris. I
don't know why RC2 hasn't followed up with a 1:64 scale version of "Jaws on
Wheels." Let's cross our fingers and hope it happens someday.
15.
Smokey & The Bandit - Kenworth

Above is a custom 1:64 scale version of Snowman's Kenworth.
It sells for well over $100 on eBay. RC2 had the Smokey & the
Bandit license AND they produce 1:64 trucks. I can't understand
why they never produced this truck. It's common sense! ERTL did a 1:87
scale version of the rig from the sequel, but we've still haven't seen a
licensed version of the original.
16.
I, Robot - Audi Concept Car

It's a shame no one jumped on this license when the movie
was in theaters. The DVD came and went and still no die-cast. Unless
there's a sequel, I just don't see this car ever getting produced. Given it's unusual appearance,
most die-cast manufacturers would be hesitant to create a new casting. Too bad.
17.
Duel - Valiant & Tanker Set

How cool would it be to have a two-pack from the movie
Duel? The Plymouth Valiant casting could be re-used to justify its
creation. The Peterbilt Tanker would be a different story, however.
Still, I think a limited-edition two-pack would sell out quickly.
18.
Corvette Summer - Custom Vette

Cool car. Obscure movie. Again, when you combine
the obscurity of this Mark Hamill movie with the need for a new and unique
casting, it makes it very unlikely we'll ever see this car in die-cast form.
I wish more die-cast companies would take chances on cars I know in my gut
would sell well, but then again, I have nothing to lose.
19/20. Robocop/Death Race 2000

And, finally, we have a tie for #20. The Ford Taurus
police cruiser from Robocop was released in 1:43 scale by Motor Max.
Unfortunately, I was told there are no plans to follow up with a 1:64 scale
version.
The cars from Death Race 2000, however, would need
all-new castings. Sure, this ultra-violent movie has a strong cult
following, but would it justify a line of die-cast cars? The cars
would be very cool, but this would be a HUGE risk on the part of whatever
die-cast company picked up the license.
