Each month I go through the most recent e-mails I've received and pick a few to share with you.  I try to personally respond to every e-mail I receive, but I also post a few here in my Q&A column.

Hi Joe
I started collecting 1:18 Movie Cars 2 Month ago and I am at the count of 14
cars so far. I wonder about that Knight Rider 1:18 Model from ERTL you wrote
of, do you have more information already on that? As a great fan of the
Series, there is a special place on my desk reserved for KITT. Can you tell
me, where you find all those informations about upcoming models? I am really
looking forward and I really like all your reviews and information. Great
Work.

Kind Regards
beat Sandhofer
Zurich, Switzerland

Thanks for kind words.  As far as I know, a 1:18 scale K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider is still on track to arrive in stores before the end of the year.  Online retailers are announcing October.  I haven't seen any official photos of the final product though.  The photo above shows AMT's model kit.  As for your question about where I get my information, I have a contact at RC2, I just joined Johnny Lightning's B2B Exchange, I post messages on hobby bulletin boards, I search eBay, and I do a lot of Google searches (though my site is almost always the first one to come up.)  The bottom line is, Hollywood Die-Cast is the only site you need to visit for the latest entertainment die-cast info.

Hi Joe!

Wow! That looks like an awesome time you had down there at DukesFest. I can't believe you didn't take me along.

I just spent that last couple of days re-watching season 1 of The Dukes on DVD. Have you seen the pilot episode where they are driving in the junkyard with Cooter, and two other guys? Well, Cooter is driving the Starsky and Hutch Gran Torino in there! -- pretty cool to see that.

My weekend wasn't all so bad either because I FINALLY won a TODAY SHOW TV news van on eBay!! It should be here any day! I can't wait to get it.

Now, for the other reason I am writing you....I have a question.  Once in a while I come across some 1/64 scale Hot Wheels Action Packs on eBay.  They are for Team Knight Rider.  What is Team Knight Rider?  Was it a TV show, or a movie?  Is it based on the original Knight Rider? What can you tell me about this?

Thanks for you time, and keep up the great work,

Metro P.

Hi Metro.  Yes, the DukesFest was great.  It was HOT, but we had a lot of fun.  I did see that scene you mentioned, where the General races the Gran Torino.  I'll see if I can grab a still and post it later.  And congrats on The Today Show van.  I hear it's quite rare.  You got it for a STEAL for less than $20!

And finally, to answer your question about Team Knight Rider.  One of my most valuable resources is the Internet Movie Database or IMDB.  Searching IMDB, I discovered that Team Knight Rider aired in 1997.  The plot is described as:  Years after the adventures of Michael Knight and KITT, a new team of artificially intelligent super vehicles and drivers continues the fight against evil.  One reviewer says:  "Good idea but unfortunately that alone won't keep a series alive for very long. Especially when the show has a cast of bad actors, ridiculous cars with irritating voices, extremely poor plots, bad dialogue, etc.... On the other hand, TKR had a big budget so it didn't look all to bad."

As soon as I get good photos of the Hot Wheels action packs, I'll add them to the Hollywood Die-Cast TV gallery.  Thanks for the heads-up Metro.

Dear Mr. Joe,
I have a good news for you.  Sun Star is going to release the 1:18 Delorean from Back to the Future Part III this October.  I have attached a picture here for you.  I have also e-mailed Sun Star with the following message.  I have not received any reply from them yet, and I don't think I ever will.

Sun Star Staff,
I just have to tell you that your #2712 Delorean Back to the Future Part III looked very wrong.
Its front tires are too small, which totally ruined the appearance of what the actual Part III version should be.  Even the Welly's Delorean model (sell for $10.00 each everywhere) got the correct tires size for their Part III version.  I can't imagine your $30.00 model is much less accurate then a $10.00 model.   (end of letter)

Here is my question for your Talking Cars and I hope you will be able to find out the answer.

Will SunStar ever release BTTF III Delorean Railroad Version?  Do you have any information on the next Sun Star Delorean project?

Yours truly,
Luke Hu

Hi Luke.  Thanks for the info on the new Sun Star BTTF3 Delorean.  Reading your letter to Sun Star, I can see that you feel accuracy is important, as do I.   I think the proper wheels on a die-cast can make or break the car, though I think the car in the photo above looks pretty-darn nice.  I don't know if I'll be adding this one to my collection though.  I do own the Sun Star 1:18 BTTF Delorean (in which in the wheels fold up underneath the body) and it's one of my favorite pieces in my entire collection.  But when collecting 1:18 scale die-cast, I only have so much space.  I'll contact Sun Star and find out their future plans with the BTTF line and other entertainment-related die-cast and post the info on my site if I get it.

Hi Joe,
I know it is not die-cast, but thought you might like it anyway FYI.  Radio Shack has RC ZipZap 1/64thish Starsky and Hutch Torino and also Fast and the Furious. This is the only S&H Torino release specifically from the new movie (to my knowledge), and features pictures of the actors on front.  It was $25, but just went on sale for $15 so I grabbed one.
All the Best,
Craig

Thanks for sharing the info Craig.  For those of you interested in these, feel free to visit the Radio Shack website.

Hi, Just found your website and enjoyed it.  I liked the top ten wish list part and agree with most of the picks on it.  I would love to see another car that has never gotten a showing anywhere that I know of.  It was used alot in many 70's TV shows and movies like White Lightning and Streets of San Francisco.  A 1:64th scale of a 1971 or 1972 Ford LTD or Galaxie would be a great addition.  It was a great looking car, with classic lines and a boat to boot.  I wonder if anyone else would like to see that car too.  Thanks for listening.

Rich Pierson.

If you're talking about the car featured in Burt Reynolds' 1973 film, then YES, I'd llike to see that in die-cast form too.  Burt Reynolds is the Patron Saint of car movies, and I'd love to see a set of cars or a whole LINE of cars based on Burt Reynolds movies.  How about a boxed set that includes cars from White Lightning, Gator, Smokey & The Bandit, Hooper, Cannonball Run, Stroker Ace and others.  That would be pretty awesome.

Hello, I have a question. How many Batman Hot Wheels 2-car sets are out?  They are all Batmobiles and collector series. I think there is two different sets out now.  Can you answer?
- Timothy Ellis

Depends on which 2-car sets you're talking about.  If you're talking about the movie Batmobiles, yes, there are two sets out:  "Shields Up" has the Keaton Batmobile with and without shields (above left).  There is a packaging variation (above center).
The second 2-pack includes Batmobiles from Batman Forever & Batman & Robin (above right).  Both of these sets are being re-released later this year if you've missed out on them.

If you're talking about the OTHER Hot Wheels Batmobile 2-packs (below), there are:

- Purple Batmobile VS. The Riddler
- #31 FE (movie) Batmobile VS. The Penguin
- Blue Batmobile VS. Killer Croc.

Do u have any 1:64 scale Mustang cars between 1969-1973?  If you do please list some of the movies that will have a die-cast car out.
Thanks I know that you are probably getting sick of me e-mailing you but could you list a few movies that have some Camaros in it if you would?  Thanks.
You have been such a big help for me finding die-cast.
Thanks, Billy Schwerin

Hey Billy, I don't mind looking up this stuff for you.  It's fun for me.  Keep the e-mails coming.  If I understand your question correctly, here is a short list of Mustangs featured in films that have appeared in die-cast form that I'm aware of:

- Gone in 60 Seconds - '73 Mustang Mach I  "Eleanor" (Racing Champs)
- Gone in 60 Seconds (2000) - '67 Mustang Shelby GT 500 (Hot Wheels)
- Bullitt - '68 Mustang GT 390 Fastback (Racing Champs & Revell)
- Goldfinger - '64 Mustang Convertible  (Johnny Lightning)
- Diamonds are Forever - Mustang Mach I (Johnny Lightning)

Here is a list of Camaros:
- Fast Times at Ridgemont High '70 Camaro (RC2)
Six Pack Camaro race car (ERTL)
- Two-Lane Blacktop '69 Camaro (RC2)
- Dukes of Hazzard Cooter's #99 Camaro (RC2)
- Simon & Simon red '81 Camaro (ERTL)
- Johnny Lightning made a '69 Camaro Pace Car that is identical to the one used in Charlie's Angels (2000).  But you'd have to remove the decals on the doors.

If anyone can add to these lists, please send me an e-mail.

Hi!  My son is 9 and just got into the Jurassic Park film.
He is in love with the J.P. Ford Explorer.  I read that you may be making another.  Do you sell these die-cast models?  If so, how much would one cost?  If not, do you know if the SUV was ever made in toy form?  I am not having any luck finding where it was ever manufactured.

We would really love to be able to give one to our son for Christmas.  We appreciate any assistance you can provide.

Thank you!
Keith G.

Though it sequels resulted in a TON of die-cast vehicles from Matchbox, the original Jurassic Park has only ONE officially licensed product in die-cast form, and that's the scarce JP Helicopter by Hot Wheels (above right).  To have a JP Ford Explorer in your collection, you'll have to customize one yourself for now.  I'm sorry, but my customs aren't for sale.  I'm learning as I go and they're not very good anyway, but it's fun to experiment.  I took a 1:64 Ford Explorer from RealToy, disassembled it, stripped the paint, primed it, painted it, and added decals.  I reassembled it with new wheels featuring yellow rims.  It turned out okay, but I think I can do a better job, so I'm going to strip it and try again sometime this summer.  I'll post the results when I do.

Your e-mails really make my day.  Please keep them coming.  Click on the e-mail link in the left column and I'll do my best to find the answer for you.
